eBay is turning off some research features in Terapeak next month, which it acquired in December 2017, as it integrates certain features into Seller Hub. In addition, eBay is unifying billing in 2019, so sellers will have to take action to ensure uninterrupted service.

On November 12, Terapeak will retire the MySales Dashboard, and told sellers they can find "all of the MySales data they depend on in the Seller Hub Performance tab." Note that MySales had supported seller accounts on eBay and on Amazon.com and Shopify as well.

eBay explained that beginning next month, Terapeak would start developing features in coordination with eBay's seller tools provided through the Seller Hub.

In addition to losing access MySales Dashboard on Terapeak.com, sellers will lose access to legacy research pages (Product Research, Hot Research, Category Research). Sellers will continue to have access to Terapeak Research 2.0, however:

"Through Research 2.0, users can conduct all of the same research they've traditionally found in Hot Research, Category Research and Product Research in a single interface. Users will also be able to save their searches using the Saved Searches feature. As a result, after November 12, Terapeak users will no longer have access to Legacy Research tools, but will benefit from Research 2.0's performance improvements and enhanced stability."

A reader who considers themselves to be a small eBay seller told EcommerceBytes they had no problem with eBay integrating some Terapeak features into Seller Hub because they primarily used Research 2.0 to help determine pricing for their products. "Because of my narrow use of Terapeak, the changes don't really impact me. My primary concern with eBay purchasing Terapeak is that eBay has a history of mucking things up."

Here's the letter eBay sent to Terapeak users:

As you may know, Terapeak was acquired by eBay earlier this year and we're working to combine our resources into a better product to help you manage and grow your business on eBay.

– If you've been subscribing to Terapeak, there are a few important changes to be aware of. Starting November 12, you will no longer be able to access MySales Dashboard and legacy research pages (Product Research, Hot Research, Category Research) on sell.terapeak.com.

– You will still be able to access Research 2.0 (up to 2 years of data), Saved Searches 2.0, and SEO on Terapeak, and use the eBay Seller Hub to view your eBay sales performance.

– If you have a paid subscription for 3 Year History and MySales Pro, we'll refund the prorated difference, based on your plan.

To access Seller Hub, please sign up for an eBay account (if you don't already have one). You can create one for free here.

The eBay Terapeak Team

Anojan Abel, co-founder of research tool Shelftrend, believes the need for research is as important as ever. "As eBay builds out Seller Hub insights for all sellers, those trading in mainstream categories where competition is fierce need to continuously find ways to discover niches earlier and sell at higher margins for as long as possible."

eBay told sellers integrating Terapeak features into Seller Hub would "eliminate feature redundancies between the two applications." eBay also advised sellers to link their eBay and Terapeak accounts:

"In early 2019, Terapeak and eBay will be unifying their billing, ensuring that existing Terapeak subscribers can continue to manage their billing and subscriptions through eBay's payment processing platform. In order to ensure uninterrupted service, please make sure you've successfully linked a single eBay account to your Terapeak account, and that you've updated your billing information on eBay."
